Nature is GOD! You don't have to believe in God, but you should believe in Nature.

I will give a presentation about my Z-DNA work in the BioConference Live on Nov 17, 2009. (Agenda)
Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.
-- Marie Curie
The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.

Research Interests
As long as it's a scientific question, it's worth being studied.
I am interested in discovering the truth and underlying reasons of our complex biology phenomena
in the light of evolution, as well as application in solving reality problems by Computational Biology study.
So far, my research fields are as follows:
Education
- 9/2004-9/2009: PhD in Bioinformatics, James D. Watson Institute of Genome Sciences,
Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, PRC.
Dissertation:Identification and analyses of functional elements in plant genomics
Major advisors: Prof. Bailin Hao and Prof. Ying Xu.
In between, I spent more than two years at T-Life Research Center,
Fudan University, under Prof. Bailin Hao from 5/1/2005-8/31/2007.
Then I visited Computational Systems Biology Lab at University of Georgia,
under Prof. Ying Xu from 9/1/2007-9/1/2009.
- 9/2000-7/2004: B.S. in Mathematics, Science Class at
Chu Kochen Honors College,
Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, PRC.
Bechelor Thesis: Exact distribution of the occurrence number for K-tuples
Thesis advisors: Prof. Bailin Hao(FDU) and Prof. Huimin Xie(SZU).
I entered into the Dept. of Mathematics in 9/2000, then transferred to study in Science Class of CKHC in 1/2001 because of outstanding performance during the 1st semester at the Dept. of Mathematics.
- 8/2005: Complexity System Summer School, held by SantaFe Institute &
Institute of Theoretical Physics of
Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), at Beijing, PRC.
- 8/2005: Plant Molecular Cell Biology Summer School, held by Peking University, PRC.

Misc
I was born and grown up at Jinyun County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, PRC.
In my childhood, I enjoyed the beautiful landscape of my hometown and the colorful outdoor activities and they made me fascinated by NATURE.
I am willing to devote my life in discovering the truth of our nature as well as applying them in improving our society. Besides, I also like mathematics and am good at abstract thinking. And I do hope to apply the beautiful math to solve biological problems. That's why I chose math as my major during undergraduate years.
