Hi, My name is Tao Sheng, a 3rd year PhD student in the institute of Bioinformatics, under the supervision of Prof. Ying Xu at the Computational Systems Biology Lab.

  • The altered cell cycle events in tumor tissue. As it is well known, one of the most important hallmarks of cancer is abnormal proliferation, which is highly associated with cell cycle control system. However, to the current state of the art, there is no clear knowledge about how cell cycle goes and controls in human tumor tissues
  • Deciphering and predicting the real biological funtion alterations behind mutations. For instance, TP53 mutation is widely reported to exist in cancer patients, however, TP53 gene itself serves multiple functions in the human body system. It is for sure, different mutation sites, different mutation forms would result in different kinds of funtional alterations. Thus, deciphering these mutation patterns to discover real functional alteration would be super beneficial to guide clinical treatment.
