No Charge
By:Shirley CaesarMy sister's little boy came in the kitchen one eveninig while she was fixing supper And he handed her a piece of paper he had been writing on. After wipping her hands on her apron, she took the letter in her hand and read it.
This is what it said:
For mowing the yard - $5
and for making my own bed this week - $1
For going to the store - $0.50
And playing with little brother while you went shopping - $0.25
Taking out the trash - $1
And for getting a good report card - $5
And for raking the yard - $2
Total owed - $14.75
While she looked at him standing there expecting
And thousands of memories began to flashed through her mind
So she picked up a pen and turned the letter over
and this is what she wrote to the little boy:
For the 9 months I carried you, growing inside of me NO CHARGE
For the nigth I sat up with you, doctored you, prayed for you NO CHARGE
For the time and the tears and the costs through the years
THERE'S NO CHARGE
When you add it all up, the real cost of my LOVE is NO CHARGE
For the nights filled with dred
And the worries ahead, NO CHARGE
For the advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college NO CHARGE
For the toys, food, and clothes
And wipping your nose
There's NO CHARGE my son
When you add it all up, the real cost of my LOVE is NO CHARGE
After his mother finished talking to that little boy
he looked up with big tears in his eyes
And said; Mama, I sure do lOVE YOU
Then he reached out and took the letter and wrote in BOLD WORDS
PAID IN FULL
When you add it all up, the real cost of my LOVE is NO CHARGE
The Blind Girl
Once there was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend.
He was always there for her.
She told her boyfriend, "If I could only see the world, I will marry you."
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her.
When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her, 'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?'
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind.
The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her.
She hadn't expected that.
The thought of looking at them for the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.
Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'
This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in their most painful situations.
Life is a Gift
