System Admininitration and
Software Development Experience

2003-present:

System Administrator for all computers in Systems Computational Biology Lab.
Totally ~300 computers, more than 500 CPUs, ~10TB storage.

Computer systems:

  • One DELL PowerEdge 4650 server, which is hosting our web server, e-mail server, mysql database server.
  • One IBM JS20 cluster, 54 computational nodes (will be expanded to 92 nodes soon), 1 head node
  • One IBM e1350 cluster , 64 computational nodes, 4 storage nodes, 2 management nodes, FAStT 700 with 4TB RAID system
  • One IBM HS20 cluster, 84 computational nodes
  • Software development cluster, IBM e1350, 8 computational nodes, 2 storage nodes, one management node
  • Office network, 29 Dell workstations, one IBM FAStT 600 with 4TB RAID system, one IBM 4560SLX tape library, LTO2, 32 slots.
  • Wireless network, ~15 laptops
2001-2003: 

Established a small molecular database: ~76000 molecules

Developed a Java based Graphics User Interface for Prof. Jorgensen's Monte Carlo Simulation program - BOSS.

1996-2001: 
Five years system manager in Molecular Design laboratory, Institute of Physical Chemistry, Peking University. The whole system consists of a small unix system (5 SGI workstations, 8 linux workstations, a Sun Ultra 250 server, and a linux cluster system) and a windowsNT LAN (8 PCs). Everyday work includes all hardware and software maintainment, two webservers development and maintainment, e-mail server and ftp server.
